In Psalms 91:5-7, it says, “Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.  Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.  Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you”.

Wow!  What a promise to stand on.  That no matter what happens in life, as long as we are walking in the kingdom of light and in His presence, no evil of darkness can touch us.  Amazing!  We need that promise manifested in our lives these days with everything negative around us. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.  Therefore we can claim to be a fearless princess.  Gideon was a valiant warrior.  God gave Gideon the strength to win his battle with the enemy and He will do the same for us.  The only time something will overtake our hearts is when we take our eyes off of Jesus.  He does not desire for us to be bound up in fear.  He desires us to be at peace, to have power over the enemy and to walk in love and a sound mind.  As long as we walk in His word and in His power we have nothing to be afraid of.  No matter what things look like now, victory will always be ours.  We are over comers in Christ Jesus.

I pray that you walk in the love of Christ, in which there is no fear.  In His presence we walk as a daughter of the king.  May you find confidence in your heavenly Father and your peace in His Son.  I pray that you will fearlessly face and overcome any enemy in the name of Jesus.  I pray that you will hold fast to this truth: nothing can come against you when you are safely in His arms.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I was reading a gorgeous old fairy tale to my youngest son recently, about the little duck Shingebiss and the Old North Wind. Although the wind is frigid and daunting, Shingebiss has no worries because his winter provisions and home are secure. I was especially moved by the powerful truths in little Shingebiss’ song:

“You can never frighten me,
One who doesn’t fear is free!”

John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Just like Shingebiss, we have no need to fear any frigid or daunting circumstance or emotion we face, because Christ is our provision, and all of our needs are met in Him. Fear can be the vice-grip of the enemy, even for Christians. In Luke 7, we read of the “sinful” woman who lavishly cleans the feet of Jesus with expensive perfume, and wipes them dry with her hair. Jesus’ response to her is profound, yet subtle. He says, “Your sins are forgiven. Your faith has saved you; go in peace” (emphasis mine).

Yet how many of us receive Christ’s forgiveness, plus His saving faith, but then walk away still carrying our emotional baggage? Fear is the vice-grip of the enemy, but Christ lives to free us from this tormenting captor. Like that little duck, your provisions and home are secure in Christ. Repent of mistrust, fall on His mercy, and rest in His shadow.
And declare aloud to the enemy, like Shingebiss, “You can never frighten me; One who doesn’t fear is free!”
Psalm 91: 1 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow.

And declare aloud to the enemy, like Shingebiss, “You can never frighten me; One who doesn’t fear is free!”

Psalm 91: 1 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”</strong>

Dear God,

You have been teaching me that the opposite love is not hate but fear.  Set me free from all fear that I may be secure, strong, confident and whole in Your love!!

  • Lord, every time I strive and perform to win your love, I am sliding back into religious slavery. Forgive me for trying to get it right instead of surrendering my brokenness to you and letting Your power flow through me.
  • Every time I act up and don’t treat those around me with your tender grace, I am feeling unloved.  Oh, God, cause my feelings to line up with the truth in Your Word.  While I was still a sinner, unable to do anything for You, You showed me Your Love by dying for my sins.
  • God, I feel ashamed and I hide from You, from myself, from those around me.  Set me free in love!  I want to worship you with nothing in between us.
  • Lord God, forgive me when I get intimidated and don’t speak or live in the glorious freedom you bought for me.  Forgive me for fearing man instead of reveling in awe of My Glorious King who loves me.

I receive your forgiveness and I choose today to give and receive love from a place of tender surrender, knowing I am loved, adored and all my shame is washed away.  I renounce all fear:  the fear of man, the fear of rejection, the fear of  punishment.  I receive the spirit of adoption by which we can cry, “Daddy, Daddy!”  Make me complete, perfect, whole in Your love.

I love you, Father.  In Jesus Name, Amen

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. I John 4: 18

Fear Not!!! God is love. He is not all talk and no action. He proves His love through His incredible sacrifice. God loved us and gave Himself for us. We have His strength to help us love one another.

I John 4:7-21
7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

13We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

19We love because he first loved us. 20If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Dear God,  You loved me first, when I was unlovely.  Strengthen me to love those around me who aren’t so lovely.  Help me love my spouse, my kids, my neighbors, and people who don’t look like me.

When I struggle with shame and guilt, help me to remember that I am no longer marked for punishment because you took my sentence.  I run to your throne of mercy and confess my sins and failures.  I joyfully receive your cleansing, healing love and forgiveness.  You are my friend.

I love you.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
