At midnight on April 4th, the curtain was raised to unveil the new look of the PWOC International website at www.pwoc.org. For several months now, the Communication Team has been developing the new look and structure and we are excited to finally present the redesign to you!   We hope you’ll share in our excitement by taking time to browse the site and take a look at all the content the new site offers.  There’s information for everyone!

  • New to PWOC?

Read welcome letters from the International and Regional Presidents, learn the history, the aims, and read the PWOC mission statement.  You can also find information on your region, upcoming special events, training opportunities and more.

  • Ready to Participate?

Brush up on the PWOC aims, meet the international and regional boards, find conference dates and locations, plus see upcoming events! Don’t forget to checkout the Resource Library. Do you have a great idea to share?  You can contribute resources to be used by the ladies in the worldwide PWOC body!

  • Ready to Lead?

Find information on this spring and summer’s Wild training, Find information on your leadership position and useful forms in the new Resource Library.  Publicity items, theme related material and much more are available for your use.

  • Moving Soon?

See the PWOC Installation locator under Connect to find the days and hours for your new PWOC.  If the installation is marked with the Facebook logo, you can also meet the ladies of your new installation there and receive timely information on local events.

  • Need Encouragement?

With several posts a week, the blog entries provide voices of encouragement, exhortation, and devotion composed by women serving in PWOC locations around the globe.  No matter where you find yourself, these brief entries will speak to you!

Our prayer is that the redesigned PWOC International website will be an effective tool and blessing to you. Please spread the word about www.pwoc.org and be on the lookout for new content coming soon!

(( Note: This entry will remain on the front page of the PWOC blog for a few weeks. Please scroll down to see our latest entries! ))

May 2010 marked the 1st birthday of the PWOC blog, which led the blog team to ask some pretty tough questions.

  1. What do we do?
  2. For whom do we do it?
  3. How do we excel?

Out of that process, some significant changes were made that we pray will serve the women of PWOC in a more direct and relevant way. Here’s what you can expect to see in the coming months:

Devotions will continue to post on Mondays, but will now be confined to Mondays only.

Tuesdays and Thursdays of each month will bring you updates from each of the eight regions while Wednesdays will bring you updates from each of the four international executive board members. These updates will serve as a great reminder to the body that kingdom work is ongoing and prayer coverage is appreciated.

  • Week 1: Asia & Alaska regions; PWOCI President
  • Week 2: Central & Europe regions; PWOCI 1VP/Spiritual Development
  • Week 3: Northeast & Pacific regions; PWOCI 2VP/Leadership Development
  • Week 4: Southeast & West regions; PWOCI 3VP/Communications

Fridays will be reserved for You! Yes, we’d like to hear from local installations on Fridays. Tell us who you are. How are you unique? How is the PWOC in your area making a difference for the kingdom of God? Share your success stories for cool program ideas, outreach/inreach projects, ways to bless/serve your Chaplains, etc. Share your creativity!

For those of you that enjoy following the weekly Prayer Points, they aren’t going away but will move to a monthly post, the first Friday of each month.

In addition to the regular appearances described above, you can also look for irregular contributions from other PWOC leaders concerning seasonal events such as conferences, training, leadership selection, theme development, resources, etc.

Please let us know what you think of these changes and let us know what you’d like to see here, as well. We love to hear from you!

All submissions are subject to approval and must meet the published submission guidelines for PWOC web content. Entries may be edited for clarity, length or content. The PWOC Blog Manager may be contacted at Blog@pwoc.org.

Happy New Year!! What an exciting time it was hearing from all our leadership on the blog through out the Christmas season. Praise the Lord!

In keeping with our Blog tradition of having submissions from a wide variety of contributors.  We would like to invite you to send in submissions once again.  We would love to hear from you about what the Lord is doing in you personally, in your family, PWOC, army life, etc… We also would love to hear about your kick off programs as well as any testimonies you may have from your bible studies and conferences that you attended through the Fall semester of 2009.

We trust and know God is working in each of your lives so bring in those stories ladies.  STORIES, calling all STORIES!!! We want to hear them!!

Excited about what God will bring,

Letters with stamps. Remember those? Maybe a long distant phone call with a timer that keeps track of how much money you’ve spent. Maybe an occasional visit in person with someone you haven’t seen in a long time.

Does that sound like a long time ago? How do you connect with others?

Yes, going next door or down the street for that hot cup of coffee and understanding ear is still preferred, but if you can’t make personal contact, how do you reach out to others and feel connected?

I facebook. It has changed the way I see ministry. The possibilities multiply by being connected to so many people.

I began emailing in 1996, instant messaging not much after that, have used the internet for research for at least a decade, but am completely sold on social networking as the #1 way to reach someone that’s not living close to you.

We have currently been given favor and approval to have our very own fan page on facebook! In six days, we had reached 400 fans with an average of 10-20 new fans per hour! If you’ve already signed on, you know the benefits. You will see the daily PWOCI blog with opportunity to leave comments. You, the fan, will be able to post pictures and comments, and we hope to hear your great conference stories. You will reconnect with ladies you’ve known in your different local PWOCs and meet new friends. There are discussions set up for a variety of topics: blog, conferences, regions, change, publicity ideas, prayer, and several more. Our website is linked to our facebook page, making it more convenient for you to connect. Look for the button on the home page and the blog page.

By being on facebook, you can connect with many PWOC ladies around the world. Imagine that squeal that we hear in the lobby of a conference hotel. Imagine that it’s an “online squeal” when you join the facebook called “Protestant Women of the Chapel International.” See ya there!

And bring some new friends to join the fun!!

Happy Fall Ladies!!

I do realize that this is not offically fall, but for me once school has started and PWOC is back in session…it is Fall. So Happy FALL!!
Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love it for the change of season, all the beautiful colors, the start of a new year for the kids and getting back in the swing of things. I also love it for the beautful imagery God gives me for growing in my walk with Him. Do you have any similar thoughts? Has the Lord already been showing you new things, growing your heart and family as this school year has gotten started? We want to hear from you!!

The Blog needs you, so please send in your submissions to the Blog Manager. Hope to hear from you soon!

Melinda Hemphill, PWOCI 3VP CommunicationsIt’s PCS Season, or Permanent Change of Station in military-speak. For most of us, regardless of how seasoned we are in this nomadic lifestyle, it can mean packing, crying, and saying goodbye. By mid-summer of any given year, those that are moving to the next assignment have had their worldly possessions boxed, labeled and crammed into large trucks, with either a stateside or an overseas location as the next place they’ll be opened. The farewell dinners have been given at units and chapels, and there have been tears. Even if they are not cried in a public place, there have been tears. At least with me, there are always tears and this hard tugging on my heartstrings. Saying goodbye….probably one of the hardest things to do in this life. Most of the time I just say, “see you later.” Many times that actually happens as assignments again intersect and a second phase of the relationship can continue. With some of our things still in boxes in the garage from four years ago, I’m just glad it’s not our year to move. I mean, to PCS. I think this is a good time to continue to pray, care and share with others about our experiences. Maybe it’s an opportunity to plan, conserve and save our resources. Or this blog just might be the perfect place for me to publish, create and submit my ideas. Regardless, I’m thinking that PCS can be a time to grow personally, corporately, and spiritually. God bless you on your journey. You’ll always have a home with us in PWOC.

Melinda Hemphill, PWOCI 3VP CommunicationsBlogging is one of those things that has come naturally to me. I’ve been journaling since childhood, and when I began our family’s blog in the fall of 2005, I found an avenue that combined evangelism, self-expression, photography, technology, family history, and connecting with many friends. PWOCI hopes to make that kind of connection with you, our dear sisters in Christ all around the world. Please use this tool to connect with the Body of Christ — and they told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on.

Psalm 78:4 ~ “Tell to the coming generations….the glorious deeds of the LORD.” (ESV) Yes, I can do that! Hope you’re along for the blogging journey!

Love, Melinda
