christina-mcclurePWOC has provided fertile ground to cultivate the gifts God has planted within me.  Years ago, my first discipler, Susie, was actively engaged in Ft. Campbell’s PWOC.  Susie first watered my spiritual gifts by teaching me about them.  Her mentoring alone taught me much on the gifts of teaching, mercy, and faith. Years later, others within PWOC-I have further watered those seeds as they prayed for me, encouraged me, and trained me according to the gifts they saw within me.  Despite my youth, PWOC has enabled me to keep those special God given gifts “dusted off and in use.”  And to think, it all began with one woman loving me right through the doors into PWOC.

Christina lives near Ft. Eustis with her handyman husband, Don, and two awesome kids.  They live life in vibrant color, for God’s glory.

Have you been to W.I.L.D. training yet? If so, you’ve already seen the new PWOC International theme for the coming year. Would you like to learn a bit more?

PWOC INTERNATIONAL YEARLY THEME
The PWOC International Yearly Theme, with its accompanying Logo and Music, provides continuity among the local PWOCs around the world. The theme can be used to inspire vision and direction for local PWOC board planning.

The new theme is introduced to local leaders in May of each year. The Board then begins using the theme at the Fall Kickoff meeting. The theme may be carried through the following summer or the local PWOC may choose not to use an international theme during the summer. (The Women’s Ministry Manual, p. 13)

Our 2009-2010 theme, “Arise, For the Lord Extends His Scepter,” is drawn from Psalm 45:6-9 and 1 Peter 2:9-10. These theme verses capture the work our Savior has done on behalf of His bride, the church, and the calling that exists on each of our lives as He works out His Kingdom purposes through us.

One of the coolest things about PWOC is that we have four aims that every PWOC chapter works and abides in.  Every thing we do is put through the looking glass of the AIMS.  How awesome is that?  We are all working in one accord, no matter where we are on the globe.

Our Four Aims are:

  • To Lead women to accept Christ as their personal Savior.
  • To Teach women the beliefs, history and programs of the church; all built on a solid foundation of worship and bible study.
  • To Develop in women the skills of Prayer, evangelism, stewardship, and social service, against a background of personal spiritual development.
  • To Involve women in the work of the Chapel, in keeping with their abilities and interests.

YES!  PWOC has a mission statement.

The Protestant Women of the Chapel International is a resource network that unites, trains and encourages women in the military chapel community in their spiritual growth.

PWOC is God empowered, Christ centered and Spirit led; exists as an extension of the chapel; encourages women to grow spiritually within the body of Christ through prayer, the study of God’s Word, worship and service; is sponsored by the Army Chief of Chaplains and is recognized by the leadership of the Air Force, Navy, Marine and Coast Guard Chaplaincy.

Melinda Hemphill, PWOCI 3VP CommunicationsBlogging is one of those things that has come naturally to me. I’ve been journaling since childhood, and when I began our family’s blog in the fall of 2005, I found an avenue that combined evangelism, self-expression, photography, technology, family history, and connecting with many friends. PWOCI hopes to make that kind of connection with you, our dear sisters in Christ all around the world. Please use this tool to connect with the Body of Christ — and they told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on.

Psalm 78:4 ~ “Tell to the coming generations….the glorious deeds of the LORD.” (ESV) Yes, I can do that! Hope you’re along for the blogging journey!

Love, Melinda
