Matthew 2: 9-11

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped Matthew 2: 9-11 over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

What an amazing story!!  Men who studied the stars for wisdom, which is a bad thing to do, somehow found God.   Astrology is occult.  It is forbidden in God’s Word.  But there must have been a true hunger for God in their search because He revealed Himself to them.  Not only by His Star that interrupted every other star they studied, but also by warning them in a dream to stay away from King Herod.

The wise men brought Jesus prophetic gifts.  God refines us like gold.  His glory reflects in our lives.  The streets of His Kingdom are paved in gold.  God says the prayers of the saints are like bowls of incense being presented before the altar of God.  Our prayers before Him are like a sweet fragrance of the evening sacrifice.  The bitter myrrh represents the bitter suffering Jesus experienced.  It is an embalming spice used in the Middle East.  This baby shower gift foretold His death.

Dear Father,  Thank you for the promise that when we seek You, we find You.  We lift up those around us, even those seeking in darkness or doing things that are wrong.  We pray that would be filled with true hunger for You and find You.  Thank you for revealing yourself to hungry hearts then and now.

Thank you for the gifts the Wise Men brought You.  God, refine us as gold.  Burn off every obstacle to Your Love and let us reflect your glory and grace in our lives. God we lift our prayers of praise, of thanksgiving, of need and want to You.  Let our prayers be a sweet smelling fragrance before Your Throne of Grace.  Let grant us mercy to embrace the bitter sufferings of our lives.  Give us grace to daily die to Self and return to You.

Most of all, give us wisdom that we might seek You.   We love you Father.  In Jesus Name, Amen

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

(NASB says, “in whose heart are the highways to Zion)

6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca (weeping or sorrow),
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.

7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.

Psalm 84:5-7 NIV

In the midst of the joy of Christmas, we are sometimes very happy.  Other times we are dealing with hard, painful things in our lives.  This passage in Psalms brings us comfort and encouragement.    It comes from knowing there is a highway in my heart that Jesus walks in on. He’s not just a sweet baby in the hay.  He is also a road builder.  He constructs a highway in my heart because He is always looking for ways to be closer to me.  He is traveling toward me.  He wants to be nearer. He walks the highway with me. He leads me along the road to deeper maturity.  He sits and talks with me along the way.  Being with Him is the best and deepest joy, fulfilling the profound needs of our hearts!

But sometimes our highway to Zion detours through the Valley of Baca (tears, weeping, and sorrow).  How do I find joy on those days, when it’s my first Christmas without a loved one, or I can’t afford the gifts my heart wants to send, or I am aching over lost health, a wayward child, an angry spouse?  I want to soak in His presence, but sometimes I just hurt.  Where do I find joy then?  What a beautiful picture God paints in verse 6.  As I pass through (thank God I’m passing, not staying!!), my tears fill the valley of weeping.  My tears and crying out to God begins to fill the valley until the water level rises to become a sweet spring that lifts me up.  When we are in this valley, it seems there is no way out.  But it is the place I depend on Him.  I can’t float to the top of the water without surrender!  Sweet trust brings deep joy!

My highway builder doesn’t just make a way for me to meet with Him.  He doesn’t just lead me in the right way.  He doesn’t only lift me up, using the very tears of my suffering as a way out.  He even causes us to go from strength to strength until we appear before our Beautiful, Wonderful, Comforting God in Zion.  The highway leads Home!  Blessed Christmas.

Day 5:  As God’s fellow workers (workers together for Christ) we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.  For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”  I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. Glory, glory, glory to you , O Lord.  We praise you Father, and thank you Lord for saving us from ourselves, the world and the evil one.  By your stripes, we are healed, O King, by your death and Resurrection we are raised to new life in You. We pray for all of us who want a special touch at the conference; a touch of grace, a touch of your healing power, a touch of your Infinite Love. 2Cor. 6:1,2

Day 4:  We do have such a High Priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven. … because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.  Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He lives to intercede for them. Yes, and Amen O Lord.  Words cannot express our gratefulness and love you have shown us…by your death and Resurrection, we have access to your throne of grace to receive mercy and grace.  Heb. 7:24, 8:1,2

The Ark of Covenant/Mercy Seat: Intimacy

Day 3: Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. O Yes, Lord, we say yes to You, we say yes to the freedom that comes from your Glory.  Transform us, fill us with your Holy Spirit.  We thank you Lord for PWOC-I making this conference possible. We bless all those involved from the beginning to the end, and we have open hearts prepared for your message to us. 2Cor.3:17,18

Day 2:  Forgetting what is behind and looking what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Our citizenship is in heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body. Lord, we look forward to that day of great rejoicing when we embrace our true citizenship and your work of transformation will be complete.  We do eagerly await and press on because we love you, Lord Jesus, our King, our Savior. For now, Lord, we pray for traveling mercies for all, from all over the earth, that your protection will be with those traveling to the Conference. Philip. 3:13,20,21

Day 1:  Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord.  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.  May the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth bless you from Zion.  Psalm 134

Praise the Lord.  Praise the name of the Lord; praise Him, you servants of the Lord, you who minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.  Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to His Name, for that is pleasant.  Psalm 135

At His Tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. Psalm 27

Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.  Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.  Worship the Lord in the splendor of His Holiness. Psalm 29:1,2

The Table of Showbread: Sustenance—Communion with the Word

Day 12:  For the Word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Lord, you are the Word made flesh, and You are living and active in our lives.  Search us O Lord, and judge our thoughts and attitudes today, and see how we can love you more.  We pray for our marriages, Lord, help us to receive our spouse as a gift from You.  Teach us Lord to respect our husbands out of obedience to Your Word. Thank you Lord for loving us unconditionally. Hebrews 4:12

Day 11: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.  To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.King of Heaven, Lord of lords, we worship you today, in Spirit and in Truth.  We daily come to you for fresh manna, a Word in season so that we may be refreshed, we may commune with you daily.  Thank you Lord for your protection and blessings.  Give us the desire to be in your Word daily, so that we may honor you in all we do and say.  In Jesus name, we pray, Amen. Revelation 2:17

Day 10: For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk in blameless. Thank you Lord that you protect and sustain us.  We ask today for all our loved ones downrange in harm’s way, that You, Mighty God will be a sun and shield for them.  We ask for favor for them and for you Lord, to honor them.  Thank you Lord for your Sustaining love and protection. Psalm 84:11

The Altar of Incense: Intercession/Worship—Priestly Prayers and Songs of Intercession

Day 9: Your throne O God, will last forever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your Kingdom. Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear; forget your people and your father’s house. The King is enthralled by your beauty; honor Him, for He is your Lord. Heavenly Father, we thank you Lord, that our worth comes from you…help us Lord, to be gracious and kind with one another, forgiving easily as You Lord have forgiven us.  Thank you Lord that our beauty is one of a humble and contrite heart.  We honor you, O Lord, our King.  Psalm 45:6,10,11

Day 8:…that all of them may be one, just as You are in Me and I am in You. I in them and You in Me.  May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as you have loved Me. Father, you prayed for us all to have unity in You.  We confess Lord, we are often far from being united in our homes, in our churches, in our ministries. We pray an anointing of unity on this conference, a spirit of joy, love, peace, self control and gentleness for all.  We pray for the staff at the hotel, that they would be full of grace towards us, and that we would shine like Jesus, each and every one of us. John 17: 21,23

Day 7: And Mary said:  My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—Holy is His Name.Father, let us rejoice together in the wonderful story of your mother, Mary.  Let her life be an example to us, she endured, she persevered, she persisted in what was Your will for her.  Prepare our hearts to hear the Word from our keynote speaker, Priscilla Shirer, and let us be encouraged to bring that Word home to our hearts and our families. In Jesus Name, Amen. Luke 2:46-49

The Veil:  Access/Admittance –Family Only

Day 6: And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up his spirit.  At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom…… The centurion and the guards exclaimed, “Surely He was the Son of God!” O Lord, help us to reflect on your greatness, your sacrifice for us..and help us to see the power of God available to us because of the work you did on the Cross. Keep us calm and focused as we get ready to come to Dallas always remembering the Cross, focus us on the joy of our salvation. In Christ’s name above all names, Amen. Matthew 27:50-54

IV The Candlestick—Illumination—Holy Spirit Enablement

Day 15: Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.  See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Lord, your promises are true.  We praise you O Holy Spirit, and we pray for all the nations covered in darkness.  Arise, shine Holy Spirit in each one of us and may the glory of the Lord shine in Dallas as we prepare to meet there.  We pray for all the audio visual and sound equipment to work perfectly, we pray for those involved and running all the equipment to have Holy Spirit illumination. And we pray for the worship team to make a pure, joyful noise unto you O Lord…may all our voices come together in joyful Praise of you, O Lord, our King.  Is. 60:1-3

Day 14: You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Father in Heaven, Light of the World, you who came down to darkness in this world, we Praise you King of Kings and we glorify you as we wait for your return.  Fill us with your Light and teach us your ways so that we too, may have our light shine before all. Matt. 5:14, 16

Day 13: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. O Lord, what a wonderful promise; Holy Spirit, pray for us, we are weak, we are your sheep, O Lord, and we humble ourselves today and ask for you to reveal to us what keeps us from knowing and loving you more, Abba Father.

As we near conference time

God is calling us to prepare ourselves for His Presence.

We are the temple of His Spirit.

The Tabernacle represents eight things we do to prepare our hearts:

I. The Gate –Entrance – One Way — Gratitude

Day 30: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with Praise, give thanks to Him and praise His holy Name. Lord, thank you for this opportunity to come together in Dallas for the PWOCI Conference.  We pray today that we would have grateful hearts and hearts that sing your praises!

Day 29: You are the Way, the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father, except through the Son. There is no way, no truth and no life without you Lord.  We pray for our loved ones today, that we all would know the Truth and be set free by it! We come to you O Lord, with humble and contrite hearts, waiting on your Word, your Way, your Truth.

Day 28:  I waited patiently for the Lord, and He heard my cry. We confess to you, O Lord, that we often go our own way.  We cry out to You, O Lord that You will keep us on the straight path, keep us from temptation and put our feet on the Rock.  Psalm 40

Day 27:  Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. O Lord, we want to be in the ‘few’.  Teach us, ready our hearts to hear and act on the words we hear from You. We pray for the keynote speaker, Priscilla Shirer, for her preparation and her health, that you would prepare her heart along with ours.  Matt. 7:13,14

Day 26:  I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in ME. Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Son, Jesus.  Help us to abide, to keep abiding, to enter through your Gates with your Abiding love. John 15:1,4,5

II. The Brazen Altar –Love, Acceptance—Remember His Sacrifice

Day 25:  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Lord, your unconditional love fuels our souls.  We pray for your love to keep us in the palm of Your Hand.  We glorify you O Lord, and we pray for all those involved in the conference, that your abiding love will give them strength and endurance.  John 17:3

Day 24:  And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds (stripes) you are healed. We glorify You, O Lord Almighty and we remember…we remember your sacrifice and we accept our healing, dear Father.  Show us your love daily.  And help us to live out your love daily.  We pray for and thank you for our families today.  1Peter 2:24

Day 23: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Thank you Lord for true freedom, only in You, can we be set free and experience true freedom.  Thank you Lord for the great ministry of PWOC.  Thank you Lord that we anticipate seeing our sisters from all over the world.  Thank you for our chaplains that support and honor us all through the work of PWOC.  Help us to uphold and honor our chaplains, especially Chaplain Puchy, our sponsor. Romans 8:2

Day 22:  Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things come. Alleluia, alleluia, we Praise you Mighty King, yes, old things gone, behold you are doing a new thing in us, through us, for us….Glory be to God on the Highest. IICorinthians 5:17

Day 21: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. O Lord, the Spirit of Jesus lives inside of us.  Help us Lord to show others that love, especially our families. We pray today for the International pwoc board members that you would protect them, uphold them and give them all the necessary gifts to carry out their respective offices.  Thank you Lord for them. Galatians 5:20,21

III The Laver –Cleansing—Repentance and Humility

Day 20:  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. We say yes, Lord, yes and amen.  We are not condemned but free because You, Lord Jesus, paid the price for us to come into your presence with thanksgiving.  We Praise You Lord, and bless your name.  Bless Kari Jobe today as she prepares to lead us in worship.  We want to worship you Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Romans 8:1,2

Day 19: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. O Lord, it is not you who are far away, but us.  Keep us humble O Lord, and cleanse us from any unrighteousness. Help us to draw near to You, daily.  We honor you Lord.  We pray today for all the workshop leaders as they prepare to bless us and teach us from your Word.  Help them to handle rightly the Word, and prepare our hearts to receive. Thank you Lord, King. James 4:8,10

Day 18:  You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?  It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Heavenly Father, don’t allow us to lose our ‘salt’.  Keep us flavored and honoring to You.  We confess Lord, if we are doing things, living life without You.  Keep us fresh and alive in You.  Prepare us for what you have next for us.  In Jesus, name,  Amen. Matt. 5:13

Day 17:  Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Father, your love is better than life.  Thank you for this promise, that you give us deliverance from our afflictions, our trials, our hardships.  Deployments are hard Lord, we pray today for those whose husbands are deployed.  We pray for our precious sisters and ask for a great measure of grace for them and for their children.  We pray for the widows, that you Abba, Father will comfort them and give them peace.  Psalm 34:19

Day 16: O love the Lord, all you His godly ones!  The Lord preserves the faithful, and fully recompenses the proud doer.  Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord. Lord, these are promises that are sure, thank you Lord for the hope that is in You; we Praise you Jehovah. And thank you for your faithfulness.  Help us to be ever faithful. Psalm 31 23,24

IV The Candlestick—Illumination—Holy Spirit Enablement

Day 15:  Coming Soon…..

Submitted by Dawn Kennedy, International Prayer

PWOC is one of the most amazing women’s ministries in the world!  A group of sisters:  drawn together by their love for Jesus and their common military experiences.  It gives my heart joy to think there are 10,000 of us around the world studying, worshipping, sharing, training, and lifting one another up.  As I meet sisters from around the globe, one question haunts me.

Over and over women quietly pull me aside and share that they don’t feel comfortable praying.  It is everyone: new believers, young moms, seasoned saints, even women who have been in church all their lives. The good news is God does not condemn you.  He is drawing and wooing us and He wants to equip us.  And to take liberty with a few words repeated by a little mouse named Ratatouille (use your French accent, please!), “Anyone can pray!”

Praying is simply conversation with God, and conversation is a skill most of us have in abundance.  A conversation is not one person doing all that talking.  That would be a lecture.  Imagine two close friends sipping coffee, pouring out their hearts to one another.  One may talk less, one may bubble over with words, but they both share and they both listen.

I have been intercessor since childhood, but I am learning something new everyday.  Almost every day I ask the Holy Spirit to teach me how to pray.  I confess to Him that I don’t know what I am doing and ask for His comfort and teaching to guide me.  Sometimes He leads me in sweet adoration, other times I weep for another’s pain or loss.  Some days I am fiery in war and cry out for the Lord of Hosts to come and intervene. And some days I am weary to the bone, and I can do nothing but sit at His feet in silence, letting His Presence soak the dry, empty places in my heart.  All of these things are prayer.

There is one type of prayer that we can all do, and it is probably my favorite.  I like to find one scripture, read it a few times thoughtfully, and then listen to My Shepherd’s voice as He whispers His mercy, His truth, His Life to me.  Fancy words don’t matter.  Talking to Him and listening to Him are JOY!

God has been capturing my attention with a scripture found in Isaiah 33:5-6.  It says:

The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high.

He has filled Zion with righteousness and justice.

He will be the sure foundation for your times,

a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge,

the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.

God is a rich store of salvation, wisdom and knowledge.  We each come to the end of our ability to fix everyone around us.  When we come to the end of ourselves, we have reached the best place on earth: the beginning of His never ending supply.  Simple words from the heart are what He desires.

One year I desperately needed wisdom.  I did not know what to do.  Situations seemed complex and overwhelming.  I read Proverbs 9:10. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.   During that time, I did not know the ways of the Lord.  As I prayed my simple, “911” prayer all year, He began to teach me.

First, He began to set me free from being afraid of Him and afraid of punishment.  He removed my false foundation of fear, guilt, doubt and shame.  I didn’t even know those things were blocking the true reverential awe of the Lord in my life. But our enemy, satan, knew.  He wanted to stop the fear of the Lord in my life so that I could not open the God’s rich stores of salvation, wisdom and knowledge.   One simple prayer can change your life.  He wants to uproot the shaky places in  your foundation too.  I wonder what would happen if we began to trust Him with that process?  Would removing the false make room for the true?  Would you like the key to His treasure?   Anyone can pray, even you!

Dear Father,

Help us to be imitators of you, because we are your children.  Let us be filled with love.  Forgive us and cleanse us of immorality, impurity and greed. Forgive us of any obscene stories, foolish conversations and coarse jokes.  Instead, I pray our mouths would be full of thankfulness to you!    Lord give us strength not to participate in these things. Help us to never love things, but increase in our love for You.  We do not excuse our sins, but we confess them so that we can be made right with you.   We were once in the darkness, but you have given us your light!!  Jesus, You are the Light of the world.  Let your light produce that which is good and right and true in our lives.   We receive your forgiveness and cleansing. Thank you so much.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. Don’t participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Ephesians 5:1-9

We agree together that God has given us different types of leaders to build us up and train us. We call forth these leadership gifts in our body.  We ask for God’s favor, protection, wisdom, and peace to guard leaders.  We pray they would be strengthened in their responsibilities to equip us.  We pray for unity in our faith and in the knowledge of Jesus.  We pray that we would each grow and mature and that we would know the truth and speak it in love.  We pray we would become more and more like Jesus, the head of us all. Help each of us to learn and do our special part so that we can help each part of our wonderful ministry to grow and be healthy and full of love. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Ephesians 4:11-16

This week, we pray along with Paul…

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, together with all God’s people, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
