Back in June, I attended the regional Leadership Weekend about an hour from where I live. These kinds of PWOC events where people gather typically begin with the same kind of sound – that “PWOC Squeal” – you know the one? You show up in the lobby of a hotel and see friends from other installations and other eras in your life, and you let out a squeal of delight of being reunited with dear sisters in Christ.
One of the highlights for me was sitting in on some of the class sessions for local Administrative Coordinators. This is the new position title for the traditional Secretaries, and we’re seeing that it’s more than just taking notes these days. We spent a good part of the afternoon talking about how technology can increase our communication with our ladies and those on our installations. Three levels of PWOC ministry were present in these sessions (local, regional, and international), and that was encouraging as we linked arms and swapped ideas and encouraged each other and prayed for you.
I was thinking about how God has communicated His great love for us. God the Father has been creative and has taken the initiative in bringing about salvation to the lost. God the Son has been sacrificial and obedient to the Father, allowing love and grace and mercy to flow down to us. God the Holy Spirit worked so tenderly in calling us to be His own and led the writing of the Father’s words into what we now know and accept as the Bible.
Communicating is more than just talking to each other. It’s working together as a unit, as one, for His purposes. It’s getting an idea across that casts vision and promotes the Gospel of Jesus Christ to go forth into the nations. I encourage you to see yourself as part of something bigger than just your own local PWOC. Look into how you can be involved at the regional and international level. Let’s start by communicating with the Father for each other. Let us pray…
