We hope that you are enjoying our little tidbits on this exciting new blog.  What you can expect to hear from us each week is:

Mondays: Devotions

Tuesdays: Technology information

Wednesdays: Thoughts from our chaplains

Thursdays and Fridays: local and regional information/updates; highlights, pictures, a variety of fun stuff.  So if you have fun information to share about what is going on in your area.  Please feel free to submit those to our blog manager.

After reading an email message, I often find myself asking, “Did they read this before sending it?” Here are a few things to consider before sending out an irretrievable message with your name on it.

Quote Original Messages in Replies
Answering a question without including the question is assuming that the recipient has nothing better going on than to sit around and wait for your answer. Seriously, it’s confusing. Your reply should be below the quoted text, not above it.

Keep Emails Short
Do not intimidate recipients with too much text. Readers are less interested in what you have to say than the time it takes to find out what it is.

Punctuation Matters; in Emails Too
Comma, colon, hyphen and semicolon — all exist for a reason: they make it easier to understand the intended meaning of a sentence. Don’t make life more difficult and possibly less interesting for the recipients of your emails. Pay some attention to punctuation.

Use Acronyms Sparingly in Email
DYK? Not everybody knows every acronym, and they don’t save that much time anyway.

Use Bullet Points for Readability in Emails
Bullet points make your emails

  • easier to read and
  • easier to reply to.

Use Lots of White Space in Your Email Messages

.

What Can be Misunderstood Will be Misunderstood
Email lacks the advantage of body language and tonal inflection leading to a probability of being misunderstood. Take care to say what you mean and state clearly how you mean to convey your message.

ALL CAPS is Like Shouting
Don’t shout in your emails (it’s difficult to read, too).

Email Leaves a Permanent Record
Whatever you say can and will be used against you. Don’t say anything in an email message that you wouldn’t say in person.

Take Another Look Before You Send a Message

PWOC/Europe’s ATC (Annual Training Conference) just wrapped up and was a huge success and a grand time for our PWOC sisters in Europe. I can hear the ‘PWOC squeal’ now so many miles away!

Please help the Training Team build on this year’s conference to make next year’s ATC even better by taking a quick survey. Click here.

Many thanks to all the PWOCers that made this year’s ATC such a great training event.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

A few days ago I began experiencing symptoms of anxiety: rapid heart rate, fuzzy thinking, and irritability. When I tried to figure out the source of my stress, I realized I wasn’t pressured at all – I was thirsty and hadn’t had enough water to drink.

In the same way that anxiety is a physical response telling me that some condition in my life needs adjusting, it can also be a spiritual indicator, pointing to a dryness, or thirst, in my life that only God can quench.

In John 7:38, Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” This belief is not merely a mental ascent, but a heartfelt trust that indicates active reliance. If I believe – heart, soul, mind and strength – that God’s grace is sufficient for whatever need I am facing, then I can tap into the river of life (not death, not defeat) flowing from within me, by the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit.

When God sent the flood in Noah’s time, rain not only came down from above but (Genesis 7:11) water “sprang forth from the deep.” Wouldn’t you like to have your cares just drown out and washed clean by the outpouring of God’s power and presence in your life? I would!

So the next time you feel stressed, recognize it as a sign of thirst for God’s abiding presence in your life, and act on it! You will be blessed and filled!

YES!  PWOC has a mission statement.

Melinda Hemphill, PWOCI 3VP CommunicationsBlogging is one of those things that has come naturally to me. I’ve been journaling since childhood, and when I began our family’s blog in the fall of 2005, I found an avenue that combined evangelism, self-expression, photography, technology, family history, and connecting with many friends. PWOCI hopes to make that kind of connection with you, our dear sisters in Christ all around the world. Please use this tool to connect with the Body of Christ — and they told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on.

Psalm 78:4 ~ “Tell to the coming generations….the glorious deeds of the LORD.” (ESV) Yes, I can do that! Hope you’re along for the blogging journey!

Love, Melinda

Cinky Jones, PWOCI 2VP Leadership DevelopmentAre you W.I.L.D. for Jesus?  PWOCI is!  Women across the WORLD are taking part in PWOCI’s Leadership Training Seminars because they are Women Intent on Leadership Development!  During the course of a day, PWOC teams are walking into what may feel like a distant jungle called leadership and learning more about the way God wired them, their teammates and the community He’s given them to minister to for this season.  Through this journey, we discover that God has a plan for each of us, our PWOC’s, and our communities.  A plan for us to carry out PWOC’s 1st Aim – To Lead Women to Christ.  It is such a blessing to take the time and come together to catch sight of the variety of women at our PWOC; to hunt for where God wants us,  and pursue brave fresh trails to Him at our installation.

If your PWOC hasn’t requested a W.I.L.D. Seminar, talk to your President about it.  If you’ve been to one, it would be such a treat to hear how God used it in you, your ministry or PWOC!
